Jennifer Lopez' high school teacher says J Lo may be from the block but she sure doesn't give back to it.
JENNIFER LOPEZ has been criticized by the principal of her former school in New York for allegedly failing to make any donations to the cash-strapped facility.
The singer, who landed a reported $12 million (£8 million) deal to join American Idol earlier this week (beg20Sep10), grew up in the Big Apple's tough borough, The Bronx.
She has since carved a name for herself as Jenny From the Block, in recognition of her childhood home - but Lopez has now been slated by her former principal, Claire La Tempa, from the Holy Family School, for allegedly turning her back on the community.
La Tempa, who worked alongside the star's mother Guadalupe at the school, tells the New York Daily News, "Jennifer hasn't even sent us a CD. (Her mother) Lupe was wonderful, a sweetie, and wonderful with the kids. When Jennifer became famous, I asked Lupe if Jennifer could donate a scholarship in her name, and Lupe just said, 'Uh-uh! That's her money and that's it.'
"The recession has hit parents hard. Many of them are single mothers. A lot have lost their jobs. I have one mother who worked at St. Vincent's Hospital for 25 years - and she's out of work now. It's hard for families to make the tuition... I keep praying she'll donate the pink diamond engagement ring Ben Affleck gave her."
A representative for Lopez refused to comment, insisting she doesn't discuss the star's financial affairs.

How tacky are you to come out and try and out a former student? How dare you!!! It amazes me how certain people feel they are owed something. How long did she even attend that school?? Was it a positive experience for her? These are all things to take into consideration. Im all for giving back and I'm sure that she and her husband do just that. How dare this woman try and put her on blast because NOW her school is having problems. Im sure she is more then willing to write a check now...NOT.

If there was one thing my wealthy grandfather told me was to give back to where you came from to not just help out the community, but to give hope to those who live in poverty. My grandfather not only put thousands of kids through college, but purchased them vechiles and help them pay their rent. he was understanding that A good education could help people out of poverty. He left behind a trust where my mother(his yougest daughter) donates 500,000 a year to local schools,college grants, and so forth. I am not wealthy, but he did leave me behind a little cash cow just in case I should fall on hard times. Not saying that JLO hasn't helped anyone, but it would be nice if she helped out her old school, especcially in this crazy economy. When people wake up tha you can't take money with you when you die.
I've really learned to dislike this trick! she's done so much f!cking and sucking to get where she's at it's not funny. The industry has a saying about her "jlo is proof that you CAN sleep your way to the top". Skeletor don't want a scandal out this bish so he does whatever to keep her self absorbed ass happy.

I said this for years, J.Lo is one of many entertainers who want to represent and rep where they came from but when it's time to give back they won't. These type of people enjoy spending hundreds of thousands on purses, shoes, clothes, hotels etc. People are not obligated to give back but come on if you have it why not. This is normal for someone to give back as a way of being thankful for all the people from "THE BRONX" that support her by paying to attend her shows, purchasing her clothes, perfums and cds. Come on! Any donation she give would be considered a tax write off, hell if she used one month worth of money that she spends on clothes, shoes and bags that could be used for one year of help to a school. She is so selfish - I can't stand people like her.

It truly is a gift to give generously and think of others less fortunate then yourself. Me I am a giver and helper however Jennifer is not obligated to help anyone. Understand what she has is not promised to her.

This rumored husband trying out for Idol is just a way to ratchet up ratings for her coming on Idol. The whole Ben Affleck situation was fake as hell...It's a shame, because I did used to love J-LO Jeans....SMDH!
Maybe there's a reason why she has not given back to them-surely she can't be that stingy w/her money we don't the whole story i would hope that a rich person would share the wealth with those less fortunate!
