He admits keeping his true emotions under wraps was a tough task growing up under the spotlight and he often wrestled with feelings of confusion.
He tells talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, "I think you know, you feel attraction, you feel a chemistry. It's not like you know you're in love with a guy, but you feel a chemistry.
"Obviously that's not what you're supposed to be feeling, that's not right. Your church says it's wrong. You're 12 years old and a rock and roll star and you have to do whatever it takes to call the attention of the girls.
"Other than that, you're a f**got. As an adult, it's confusing at times, imagine when you're struggling with all those emotions when you're 12."
