Diva Rule # 456: Never Walk When You Can Be Driven

It started at 3pm when she emerged from the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Knightsbridge and was hurried by security guards a few feet across the pavement to one of two waiting people carriers. A crowd of photographers, autograph hunters and fans who had gathered outside the hotel, where Britney Spears is also staying, scrambled for a better look. Photographers ran to their motorbikes ready to trail Beyonce around what they thought would be a tour of London's shopping spots or perhaps a visit to a restaurant. But the two people carriers simply drove a few feet up the street, did a U-turn and pulled up directly opposite the Mandarin Oriental at Harvey Nichols. After a 20-minute guided tour of the department store, Beyonce and her team returned to the people carriers and made the same trip across the road back to the hotel. Shortly afterwards, the 27-year- old star left for the O2 Arena in North Greenwich where she was performing a sell-out concert, the final gig of the UK leg of her world tour.
