Hmm. I am not shaking my head because of Alicia helping a man cheat on his wife. I think the bigger problem/picture is the pre-packaged image. WE ALL FALL FROM GRACE. Because no one who is a human being is perfection. We all may not be mistresses or homewreckers, but we all have done dirt that hurt another. I am not mad at Alicia for fucking up. It is what we do. We fall from grace and the only hope is that we learn from it & do not repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Even the wives who are wagging their fingers at Alicia right now have seedy dirt in their past that they are not proud of. No one should be so righteous. (If Alicia goes and fucks YOUR man/husband, that's a different story).
People are reacting to the fall of Alicia's facade. Simply put, they feel betrayed but also a little dumb for being duped. Learn. You cannot trust a damn thing a celebrity/politician/figure-head says. You must have your own convictions and strength to live your life by. You cannot look to others for that validation.
It's very clear that Alicia has been held to a higher standard all these years, but why? While I've been entertained by her music, I've also been waiting for the other shoe to drop because she was too damn "perfect." I am almost breathing a sigh of relief at this homewrecker thing. She's not a robot after all!
She's a great artist I like her music. I don't understand why people get so mad that her personal life isn't 100% perfect.
