Billy Joel’s 23-year-old daughter was rushed to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan today after allegedly ingesting a large number of sleeping pills in what police consider a suicide attempt, The Post has learned.
Medics were called to Alexa Ray Joel’s apartment at 19 Bethune St. apartment in the West Village at approximately 12:21 p.m. this afternoon, sources told The Post. The 911 call came from a roommate who reported that Joel had taken too many sleeping pills, sources said.
A prolific songwriter since her young teens, Alexa Joel is also a talented pianist and singer. She’s among several celebrities scheduled to appear in a tree-lighting ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange this Thursday. Sources say it appears Joel tried to commit suicide after taking unknown amount of pills. She recently broke up with her boyfriend.

Poor Alexa Ray; sometimes children of celebrities inherit some of their ways, or are cursed because of their parents; Billy Joel's drinking and her mother's various marriages has this young lady in a state to where she gets severly depressed over an argument/breakup with her boyfriend that she takes a handful of PILLS?? Common life is SO much easier...
poor thing. i hope this was not over a man. she is beautiful and does not have to worry about where her next meal is coming from. dad has issues and so does mom too many husbands and still raising babes at her age.. maybe that impacted her daughter as well. i hope she will br fine and i hope her parents are there for her. hell maybe that was the problem in the first place... not being around plays a big part when a child is being raised..
