It wasn't just the two sets of players who needed helmets on Sunday night... We could have done with similar protection at the official after-game party.
We looked on in horror as huge bottles of champagne were chucked around the bash like American footballs.
And, as panic set in among the Super Bowl revellers, one potentially deadly magnum landed just inches from Rihanna .
It all kicked off at around 5am, a few hours after New Orleans Saints' victory over Indianapolis Colts in Miami.
Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Timbaland were all sitting at the same table in Miami's Liv club, drinking bubbly and having a giggle.
The DJ was spinning Ri's Run This Town - but the good vibes were about to be shattered big time.
Suddenly five magnums of Laurent Perrier Rose were thrown from the balcony above, with one whistling past the Umbrella star's left arm before smashing to the floor. Someone from Rihanna's table hurled a bottle back, prompting the party above to send an even bigger jeroboam bottle hurtling down.
Despite almost causing Rihanna serious injury, the yobs were shouting "touchdown" every time a bottle landed.
Rihanna was screaming as American footballer-sized bouncers waded in to catch the troublemakers. The DJ then stopped Ri's track and yelled: "Everybody get the f*** out. Super Bowl is ruined." What a disaster. As Rihanna and Kim got ushered to safety, everybody else trooped out too.
It was a lucky escape for Rihanna - and, incredibly, she had another mighty nearmiss earlier on in the evening.
Shortly before 3.30am at the star-studded bash, the singer almost walked headlong into her troubled ex Chris Brown .
Brown, who assaulted Rihanna at the Grammys last year, was emerging from the men's loos with his head down.
He was too busy wiping his hands dry on his jeans (let's hope it was just tapwater) to notice Rihanna a few feet away.
Luckily, eagle-eyed minders pounced on Chris and ushered him away from trouble and an awkward confrontation.
It was an unforgettable night of pure drama but, unlike the game earlier, with no winners...

sounds like karma is warning Rihanna that pay-up time is around the corner...she best look out. And frankly (surprisingly) Chris is the least of her worries. He's moved on. But her dirt that she tried to throw is slwoly turning itself around to get at her. I doubt she's ready to pay the piper, so it'll all be a shock.

How is Chris Brown "troubled"? He was most likely ushered away because of the stay away order. This bs post made it seemed like he would actually go over to her and risk jail time. FYI he was hosting a party at MiamiLIV over the weekend; and from the pics posted he didn't look to "troubled".
Also, Rhi's peeps need to concerned with her safety not acting like children hurling bottles back. They should have immediately gotten her out of there and to safety. What's wrong with them. Someone needs to be fired!
