The Dutchess of York just got busted in a sting operation when she tried to sell access to Prince Andrew to a British tabloid.
Ferguson 'Devastated' By Access-To-Andrew Deal
Former British royal SARAH FERGUSON's representative has authenticated a video recording in which the Duchess of York offers a U.K. tabloid access to her ex-husband PRINCE ANDREW for cash.
The News of the World posted footage from the video on its website over the weekend (22-23May10). In it, Ferguson appears to offer to 'sell' access to the Prince for $800,000 (£500,000).
Newspaper editors reveal Ferguson spoke to an undercover reporter, who was posing as a broker.
Ferguson’s spokeswoman, Kate Waddington, has confirmed the meeting took place and the Duchess is "devastated" after learning the set up was captured on video.
The former royal has issued a statement apologising for her actions, revealing the "lapse" was part of a desperate attempt to make some money,
She says, "I very deeply regret the situation and the embarrassment caused. It is true that my financial situation is under stress, however, that is no excuse for a serious lapse in judgment and I am very sorry that this has happened. I am sincerely sorry for my actions,"
Ferguson and Prince Andrew ended their 10-year marriage in 1996. They have two children, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
