Nobody wants to get on Ciara's ride?
Has Ciara’s upcoming “Basic Instinct” album been shelved indefinitely? Rumor has it Jive Records is none too pleased with the album’s first single performing poorly on the charts and is poised to either push the album back from its scheduled summer release date or shelve it altogether.
“Ride” has been on the charts for seven weeks and has failed to chart higher than #71 on the Hot 100 and #18 on the R&B chart. The single’s video has also been banned from BET, though it has been getting excellent rotation on several MTV spin-off channels and was the #1 downloaded video on Itunes for three straight weeks.
Despite the single’s poor chart performance, which in my opinion is solely due to radio’s refusal to play it, “Ride” appears to still be holding on and would probably be served well by a kick-ass performance from Ciara. As of yet the dance diva hasn’t given any live performances and outside of a few radio interviews hasn’t put in much promotion either.
Rumors aside- Ciara has an upcoming spread scheduled to appear in Essence magazine and recently made a brief appearance in the Adidas ad campaign that recreated the “Cantina” scene from Star Wars.

Ride shouldn't be a single at all. And if Ride is the best song on the album then I understand why Jive is mad.

that song left me feeling flat and as far as her "dancing", while she obviously is quite flexible and coordinated i felt she was promoting sex and nothing else - her "dancing" offered us a complete lack of creativity, emotion, sensation, fun, connection and last but not least interest.

She can dance her ass off, but the vocals, Lord help her! The video sucks ass, and if it wasn't for luda, I probably wouldn't listen to the song at all. I feel that there is no real female talent out there anymore, and that's including Beyonce's weavelicious ass. I figured someone would think that there are HATERS because they agree that Ciara, well sucks, and I am referring to you 3:10 because you suck ass for liking that lame song.
Ciara is someone I won't sleep on yet. She is one hell of a dancer and that aspect can be played up. Janet does not have a great singing voice either, but she is an icon. Ciara can actually dance. So, seeing the "Rde" video was a bit of a disappointment. There is more to Ciara than booty shaking and being overtly sexy. We have seen enough of that already. Plenty of acts, even those that are considered superstars, lack real talent. Booty shaking with a less than average voice is in abundance.
I believe Ciara can do better.
People starting to show some alegience towards actual talent and singers. We are tired of these manufactured "artists" who do things just for the shock value.

Janet could dance and had an "it" factor that made you want to watch. She wasn't shoved down our throats, had great material and can truly perform. She also built a collection of certified hits/albums before she started headlining tours. It's amazing to me that there are "artists" headlining tours with minimal quality material.
Another back in the day great entertainer--Jody Watley. Not a "powerhouse" voice but interesting, could dance and had "it." Check out Madonna and the late great Aaliyah. Not the strongest voices, but had "it." Beyoncé *ducking rocks* is the closest thing to them due to her work ethic and grind, but comes across as a manufactured brand. She can be entertaining, but I don't *feel* B.
Without that long ass fake hair she looks like a dude. Even her body is masculine. Them stylists be workin overtime to soften that shit up.

Ciara is a great dancer and can sing well enough to have a contract. I've bought Ciara's songs from itunes in the past so I hardly see myself as a hater. "Ride" is a horrible choice for a single and even worse choice as a first single. The dancing in this video can't really be considered dancing. Looked like she was doing a cardio work out and humping the floor.
Quincy Jones and Dallas Austin put it FRANK and told the truth for those who read their statement last year in an article: "Music is going back to what it used to be...Talent and not good looks, Love and not sex, Unity and not division and those who are not on board with this project will have no careers in the NEW Music Industry" AMEN AMEN SHOUT SHOUT!!!! I was so happy to read that and if you look at the state of music that includes record sales, radio play, ect. you will SEE that Quincy Jones was telling the truth.

Her desperate tacky phony tale need to be shelved and then dropped, real artists who want to feature their talents and not their manly bodies and pubic bone are struggling to get put on while cheap tricks like Ciara get a free ride through hollywood, unacceptable. She need to vanish like the porn girl from family matters.
As overrated as Beyonce is, the girl does put on a show and she does make any effort not to seem too horny for attention, and she does steal music with good lyrics. So F%$k, I'm down for Beyonce now.
