The menacing words from the Oscar-winning megastar reportedly came during a Jan. 6 fight with then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva at his Malibu mansion.
Grigorieva claims that the "Braveheart" actor and director punched her twice in the face, knocking her teeth loose, as she held their 8-month-old daughter, Lucia.
"What kind of a man is that who would hit a woman when she is holding a child in her hands, hitting her twice in the face? What kind of a man is that?" Grigorieva is heard telling Gibson, according to Radar.
Gibson, 54, responds, "You know what - you f--king deserved it."
Grigorieva and Gibson are locked in a bitter legal war over custody of their daughter.
Last month, the feuding couple filed dueling restraining orders against each other.
She claims she started secretly tape-recording him after he threatened to kill her.
Gibson's lawyers denied the actor hit Grigorieva, countering the pair were merely having a loud argument when the tape was purportedly made.
In a previous tape leaked to Radar last week, Gibson is heard making racist remarks to Grigorieva, a Russian pianist.
"You look like a f---ing pig in heat. If you get raped by a pack of n------, it will be your fault," Gibson was recorded saying.
