Weed Carrier Takes the Rap for Paris

Weed charges against Paris Hilton dropped in South Africa.
Paris Hilton escaped punishment earlier today when a South African court dropped marijuana-smoking charges against her. A friend and former Playboy model admitted possession.

The hotel heiress was arrested on Friday when police claimed they found a local form of cannabis, known as 'dagga', in her handbag.

Hilton had been watching Brazil v Holland in Port Elizabeth, as had actor Leonardo DiCaprio, but as the pair boarded a bus after the match sniffer dogs pounced. The Titanic star was said to be 'shell shocked' by the episode.

Hilton was kept in a cell at the city's police station before appearing at FIFA's specially set-up fast-track court where it emerged a female friend admitted possession of the drug.

Freelance photographer and former Playboy model Jennifer Rovero, 31, who travelled to South Africa with Hilton, was sentenced to a 1,000 rand (£85) fine or 30 days imprisonment.

'Paris Hilton was questioned today by police in South Africa on allegations of smoking marijuana,' a publicist for Hilton, Dawn Miller, said in a statement.
'However I can confirm that the incident was a complete misunderstanding and it was actually another person in the group who did it,' the statement said. 'The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made.'

Hilton later wrote on Twitter: 'Everything is fine guys. I had nothing to do with it.'.

A source said: 'Paris had been in a party mood when she arrived in Johannesburg and spent Thursday night in a bar. She later went clubbing until the early hours.'
Police had allegedly spotted cannabis being smoked in Paris's group at the match and warned them.

The source said: 'They quickly mounted an operation and got undercover officers to follow them to a bus that was waiting to take them out of the complex.'

Brigadier Mills said: 'The case was considered in court and the charges against Ms Hilton were dropped.

'Her friend Jennifer Rovero pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and was sentenced.'

Police said officials were tonight considering deportation proceedings against Rovero, who is an American citizen.

The socialite had arrived in the host country by private plane on Wednesday for a 'soccer and safari' trip.

A publicist for Hilton told MailOnline: 'The incident was a complete misunderstanding and it was actually another person in the group who did it.
'The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made.

'The authorities have apologised for wrongfully accusing her since she had nothing to do with the incident.

'Paris is having an incredible time at the World Cup and looks forward to going on a safari this week.'

Hilton is not known as a football fan but she has previously dated soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.

of course it wasn't hers. i mean, there is absolutely no way that it belonged to paris and she got one of her friends to take the rap for a price. nope, definitely didn't belong to paris. *snickering*

Paris and her friend already discussed how much money/favors she'd get for taking the rap AND i'm sure Paris paid her fine as well. These people are sickening! When you're rich you get away with all kinds of shit.
