She has so far remained silent about her recent hospitalization following a suicide bid.
But American Idol star Fantasia Burrino has finally admitted she intended to end her life two weeks ago when she overdosed on aspirin and sleeping aids.
'I didn't have any fight in me. I didn't care about anything. I just wanted out,' she told VH1's Behind the Music.
'At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with – all of it, all of that.
'I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace.'
And the 26-year old says there was absolutely no doubt that she wanted to die.
'I knew exactly what I was doing,' she says. 'You can't accidentally take a whole bottle of pills.'
Fantasia was found on the floor in her room by manager Brian Dickens, who says he could tell something was wrong just over the phone.
'Her emotions were extremely low,' he states. 'She'd been crying all day. Fantasia was just numb. Fantasia texted me, saying "I love you." I wrote back, "I love you more." Then it hit me.'
'I wrote, "You better not do anything or think about doing anything stupid." And I left it at that.
'About 10 minutes later, Fantasia texted me back, and she said, "Already did." I went into Fantasia's room and saw her on the floor, and my heart just dropped.'
Fantasia says, 'I was tired of people doing me wrong, constantly, over and over again, dealing with my family – my father, dealing with men and their [expletive] – I was tired. My head was hurting me. I was over it.'
But Fantasia's problems are only getting worse as she faces a lawsuit by Paula Cook, the wife of her married boyfriend Antwaun Cook.
The singer claims, 'When I met him, he was separated ... wasn't living in his home. He didn't want to be back with his wife – that is what I was told.
'I remember waking up in the hospital and thinking, 'It didn't work, I'm still here in this hellhole. Still here with all this drama going on."'
And she credits her nurse with saving her life.
'My nurse Melanie was a blessing into my life because she didn't tell me what I wanted to hear.
'She told me what I needed to hear. And she looked at me and said, "You gotta get up, and you've gotta get out of here, 'cause you haven't fulfilled your destiny."'
'I realized how people end up in the grave. Because that one moment of just breaking or feeling like I can't, I can't go on, it's too heavy. That was somewhere I don't ever want to go again.'

All she see's is her pain and what she wants. I do not believe that this man told her that he was separated chit him and his wife has just had a baby. Maybe if she think about her own daughter and how it might feel to her child if some woman came along and took her daddy away. I mean Antown is totally responsible for his actions but most men lie but getting caught up in the lie is still on you especially when you have the resources to find out the truth but just didn't use them. I am so tried of woman talking about how the man lied to you well boo that is his nature now what are you going to do to trump that?
Fantasia is full of shit. Plain and simple. This broad got caught up with a married man, thought no one would care and ended up DEAD ASS WRONG. That man's wife is no fool and she is proving that. Im glad that she is suing Fantasia. Money doesn't give you the right to do whatever the hell you want. As if people didn't already point and laugh at you, now they really have a reason. Im disgusted by her and think this "suicide" attempt was all for her show and to gain sympathy.
You mean to tell me that you would rather check out than take care of the one person totally dependent on you, your daughter. Your baby girl should be the most important person in your life. Not some other woman's husband.
That was so damn selfish of her! Hello dummy, you have a young daughter who needs her Mother... As soon as this married dude came into the picture, she started putting him first.

Seriously Fantasia? you just tired to kill yourself two weeks ago and you are giving an interview about it? how about you go pray and see a therapist and heal yourself and your relationship with the daughter you almost ABANDONED instead of using the suicide to famewhore it up!!!!
This, to me, is the height of selfishness. Where was her daughter when all of this was taking place? I truly hope she didn't witness any of this. Did Fantasia stop to think how her daughter would feel, about who would be there to take care of her daughter?
She is a real loser for that bullshit! I'm really disappointed with this chick! How you going to try to kill yourself when you got a child that's depending on you! You should have thought about that! Over a punk ass married man?! You are truly lost! She think she would have gotten peace? Naw she would have been right in hell
If she really was that depressed, it's no joke. Mental illness will ruin you. She needs help and attention because those that attempt at least once are more likely to keep trying until they are dead.
If it was a publicity stunt, well...no words for that. That would be despicable.
For everyone tht calls her a homewreker(including his wife) she did not beat that man over the head and make him come be with her. True she knew he was married but so did he. He took those vows to love and be with that woman forever not Fantasia. If it was that easy for her to come and take him away then he obviously didn't want to be there in the first place. Had it not been Fantasia then it would have been someone else, but it would have happen eventually. As far as her trying to take her own life that was totally selfish.
Tasia needs a hot cup of STFU. Nobody gives a fuck that you have been getting poked by a married man. Grow up, you got a kid to look after.
It's sad that society looks at black women so negatively, ie we're lazy, desperate, loud, hoochies, bad mothers, no good and the list goes on. Then her dumb ass does this shit in front of the whole world and perpetuates the stereotypes further. The media is having a field day with her and she's going right along with it doing interviews and crap. When is she going to get some therapy for her deep seeded problems? Like it's all going away b/c her triflin man didn't leave her. She's a pathetic excuse of a person. If she felt that desperate about her life, she should've talked to somebody.
