Joe Jonas dumped Demi Lovato right before their tour and took up with another girl. Is that what pushed Demi over the edge?
A breakup can rock even the strongest person.
But is Demi Lovato's May split from Joe Jonas the reason why she ended up in a treatment center months later?
According to E! Online, Lovato not only didn't get over the spring breakup, but she's had trouble watching Jonas move on with his new girlfriend, "Twilight" actress Ashley Greene.
Lovato and Jonas, who co-starred in the Disney flick "Camp Rock," had a short-lived, but well-publicized relationship from, approximately, March through May of this year.
Jonas, 21, took responsibility for the breakup, admitting he came to "love her as a friend."
But unlike when many couples split, the pair didn't stop spending time together.
They couldn't.
Lovato, 18, and the Jonas Brothers embarked on an international tour this summer, which might've been challenging for anyone regardless of their relationship status.
But before the tour even started, Jonas began dating Greene. The two have been spotted kissing and walking hand-in-hand throughout the country, and Greene's reportedly even joined her new boyfriend for some overseas concerts.
And when Lovato's rep announced Monday that her client had entered a treatment center "for emotional and physical issues," many began speculating that the Disney star's happy façade masked the pain she felt regarding her ex and his new romance.
E! appeared to validate some of the rumors, reporting Tuesday that while Lovato's decision to seek help came after a fight with one of the tour's dancers, it also came after Lovato "made verbal threats to Greene."
"After she split with Joe, it was just a whole bunch of drama, very awkward. Everyone tried to be professional, but you could tell it was wearing down Demi," a source told the site. "It was a taboo subject to bring up, but clearly she wasn't over Joe."
