Their courtship may have been plagued by scandal, but Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes intend to prove their naysayers wrong.
The couple, who began dating last year while still married to other people, have recently become engaged, E! News reports.
During an interview with ABC's Robin Roberts on "All Access Nashville" Wednesday night, Rimes and Cibrian spoke candidly about their courtship and, for the first time, professed their love for each other in public.
"The truth is that we're human beings. We make mistakes and we learn from them, but we're human. We fell in love," Cibrian, 37, said. "We're talking about something that's over a year, year and-a-half old, really and we're still together and we're madly in love."
Rimes, 28, agreed, adding that having an affair on the set of their Lifetime film, "Northern Lights," was something out of character for her.
"That's just not me. What happened is not who I am, period," she said. "But I do know how much I love him. So, I've always said I don't live my life with regret. I can't."
Though the two initially shot down rumors of their adulterous relationship, they could no longer hide their feelings for one another. In July 2009, Cibrian separated from his wife of seven years, Brandi Glanville, with whom he has two kids. Within days later, Rimes called it quits with husband Dean Sheremet, whom she married when she was just 19.

This broad's only in her 20's and look at the carnage she's created. She wants so bad to prove this bullshit is legit, that now she's announcing her engagement. Her and Eddie look real stupid! I guess ex hubby wasn't hittin it like she wanted. Country music is supposed to be so conservative, I can't believe her fans are backing her antics.
Well even karma has to set it stage. If you ask me this is when they shit really does hit the fan. It funny that both of them are going to get married when neither one of them respected there marriage in the first place but now want too all of a sudden do it again.
