The Royal Opera house has commissioned an opera based on the life of tragic Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith.
An opera about Anna Nicole Smith: the American sex symbol, Playboy Playmate, hapless model, laughable actress and fortune-hunting wife of a billionaire nearly 63 years her senior? Commissioned by, no less, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden? When the plans were announced, it sounded like a dubious idea, a tawdry way for a major opera house to look hip.Jacked from The NY Times
Anna Nicole, by British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage and British librettist Richard Thomas, premiered at the Royal Opera before a sold out house with standees everywhere. It was a weirdly inspired work, an engrossing, outrageous, entertaining and, ultimately, deeply moving new opera. This was an improbable triumph for Covent Garden.

wth???? why?
Well, most opera's are tragedies so this will fit right in. Wish they would leave this woman's spirit alone though and let her rest.
Look, I'm usually not one to speak ill of the dead but why they even considering this idea ? I mean, we all know what this chick was about, therefore, I do not feel she deserves a tribute of any kind.
