Miley Cyrus Very Hurt by Dad Billy Ray

Miley Cyrus was devastated by comments made by her dad in a recent interview.
If Billy Ray Cyrus really wants to "work on mending" his family, he might want to start with daughter Miley.

"Miley is upset," a source told People of the teen starlet's reaction to Billy Ray's candid GQ interview, in which he admitted he's "scared" for her future.

Billy Ray had also said he was concerned about Miley's increasingly wild behavior – including smoking salvia from a bong and celebrating her 18th birthday in a bar – as well as the people around her.

He also blamed "Hannah Montana" for causing problems within their family, which includes mom Tish and four siblings.

"She's very hurt and angry," the source said.

But the father-daughter duo will likely get past it eventually.

"Miley is very forgiving of her dad," the insider said. "In the end, they are a loving family, and they'll pull through this in their own way."

Billy Ray took some of the responsibility for Miley's behavior in the GQ piece.

"How many interviews did I give and say, 'You know what's important between me and Miley is I try to be a friend to my kids'? I said it a lot," he admitted. "And sometimes I would even read other parents might say, 'You don't need to be a friend, you need to be a parent.' Well, I'm the first guy to say to them right now: You were right."

"I should have been a better parent. I should have said, 'Enough is enough – it's getting dangerous and somebody's going to get hurt,' " he continued. "I should have, but I didn't. Honestly, I didn't know the ball was out of bounds until it was way up in the stands somewhere."

In addressing his comments, which he called "explosive, and unintentionally so," Billy Ray told People, "All I ever wanted was a functional family unit where the mom, dad, brothers and sisters all lived together in harmony."

"Right now I still believe in love," he said. "A family is more important than negativity or darkness or fame or fortune."
