Disco Balls in the Throne Room

Royal bride Kate Middleton's sister angers palace officials with plans to hang disco balls in the throne room.
Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa’s determination to give the Royal Wedding a younger, fresher feel has apparently angered officials at Buckingham Palace.

The pretty 27-year-old, who will be the chief bridesmaid on the big day, is a professional party planner by trade and has been putting her skills to good use when helping organise big sis Kate and Prince William’s special day.

But her insistence at having disco balls installed in the throne room at Buckingham Palace, and serving up bacon butties at the reception is said to have rubbed Royal courtiers up the wrong way.

Pippa, who works three days for party planners Table Talk and two days writing an online magazine for her parents’ website Party Pieces, even arranged for her boss JoJo Browner to work behind the scenes at the Palace on the big day, with the pair planning every last detail of the Royal couple’s evening celebration.

A source told the Daily Mail: "Pippa has taken two weeks leave from her job at Table Talk spend time with Kate and take full control of organising the wedding reception.

“Before she left she sat down with her boss, JoJo, and went through every last detail with a fine-tooth comb. They have organised everything from the flowers to the napkins and even helped chose the menu.

”Originally they wanted to use their own caterer, but then Prince Charles, who is funding the entertainment, stepped in and demanded they use his favourite, Mosimann's. It didn't go down well with the caterers Kate and her sister were intent on using, but there was nothing they could do.”

The insider added: “Pippa's choice of turning the throne room into a nightclub set-up also went down like a lead balloon with Palace aides, who tried to have it stopped.”

However Prince William, who is said to be very keen to make the evening to be “very young and cool” and totally different to the traditional proceedings during the day – and insisted that the couple be allowed to properly let their hair down at night.
