i have mixed feelings about Tyler. what are his intentions behind some of his stereotypical films? if his intentions aren't meant to cause harm, sell black people out, make a profit,etc..then you can't judge too harshly. maybe this is about as artistic as he can get creatively and that's why his movies are one dimensional...it's like expecting adam sandler to be able to play Denzel's role in 'training day or glory'...it ain't gonna happen because adam doesn't have that type of talent, but he does have comedic talent...
so my point is there is nothing wrong with Tyler and his version of filmaking as long as his intentions aren't bad. but i do agree that he could use a little bit more creativity, stop dressing in drag, stop playing the foolish madea role, stop playing up black stereotypes, etc...
Tyler's best film was "Family That Preys" which was had a multicultural cast. I'm sure this will be just as great.
i LOVE "the family that preys"
i personally think if you want a strong plot, tyler's films are better than his plays. the plays are meant to make you laugh at the foolishness that is madea. but family that preys had a VERY strong cast, so tyler had to step his game up, and it looks like this movie will be the same.
