Takers

In a recent interview music producer Heather Bright exposes Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Kanye West as publishing thieves.
Free Wired: Isn't that where the money's at, though? Production and songwriting?

Heather Bright: The most money is in being an artist.

FW: But, like, with publishing deals and everything, don't the composers - the songwriters and producers - make more than the actual singers?

HB: It depends on who you are. Rihanna takes publishing, Justin Bieber takes publishing, Kanye West takes publishing. On all the stuff that they don't write, they take publishing.

FW: This is something I just have to ask, actually. So "Somebody to Love" was originally meant for Usher, right?
HB: Yup.

FW: So how did Justin Bieber get a writing credit on it?
HB: Umm... How did he get a writing credit on it?

FW: Yup.
HB: That's an interesting question. I don't know. (laughs)

I am sorry I would never give aways my publishing on my work. Also if I had the talents to write and create music and has the voice to sing that music then I would write for myself.

I would not give away the rights to something I did just so some swole head celebrity with no real talent can make a few more bucks and dangle the promise of future fame in my face... but that just shows you how gullible and fame oriented todays society is... willing to sell your soul...literally...

This ain't nothing new. None of these clowns can string an intelligible coherent sentence together to save their damned lives, let along write a song. In this dying music industry, the only way you make money as an entertainer is by touring or songwriting credits (or any other outside means such as endorsements or other products). There's no "money" in music because of free downloading, or the songs are just whack-ass in general.

In my opinon free downloading started because teeh music started getting weak - I used to be a big cd head till I noticed the 2-3 songs I liked on the cd would be the ones played to death on the radio so it would be like a waste of money so I started downloading only what I wanted to hear - same shit gonna happen to movies - people are sick and tired of being sick and tired.
