Thriller Jacket Fetches Hefty Sum

The Jacket Michael Jackson wore in the Thriller video surpassed all expectations at auction commanding an astounding $1.8 million.

The winning bid for the iconic garment far surpassed expectations as it had been estimated to fetch at least $200,000 at Sunday's event.

The jacket worn by Michael Jackson in his "Thriller" music video sold for a whopping $1.8 million at an online auction Sunday, a day after the two-year anniversary of the singer's death.

The iconic red and black leather jacket had been estimated to fetch at least $200,000 at the event, overseen by Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, which called the $1.8 million winning bid a "record."

Julien's said that Milton Verret of Austin, Texas, was the winning bidder; he plans to display it at Austin's Dell Children's Hospital and hopes to raise money for children's charities and hospitals around the world in the spirit of Jackson.

The jacket was given by Jackson, who died in 2009, to his longtime costume designers Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush. The inside lining is inscribed "To Bush and Dennis, All My Love, Michael Jackson," and the sleeve is signed "Love Michael Jackson."

A portion of the proceeds from the jacket's sale will benefit the Shambala Preserve, where Jackson's Bengal tigers Thriller and Sabu have resided since 2006.

Actress Tippi Hedren, longtime supporter of the Shambala Preserve, was in the audience during the auction.

"Thriller" which went on to become the top-grossing single of all time; the 1982 album of the same name is the biggest-selling of all time.

Jackson died two years ago from an overdose of the sedative Propofol at 50 years old. The music industry honored Jackson on the anniversary of his death on Saturday.

3:05 Shortly after MJs murder, the beatles catalog was released along with more tunes from elvis. Some viva la elvis cd was released. Now, the auctioning of his jacket and then $ony trying to hype of the 'Michael' cd which consisted of UNfinished work by MJ. I find that ironic considering $ony did not promote Invincible. They hated MJ because of what he rightfully owned and their greedy, good for nothing, asses wanted it. The parasites were not satisfied with owning half of the catalog. They wanted it all and only wanted to give MJ less than a fourth of what it is worth.
Could they be more obvious? Worthless vultures.

^^

They wanted the Catalog. If anyone paid attention when Michael was broke he started to sell some of his fortune. But he never ever gave up the catalog. He knew it was worth millions.

Rest assure it is etched in stone the Jackson family will always own the catalog period.

They dogged that man. They talked about him. When he finally realized the vultures among him it was to late.

^^^ MJ got played like the damn fool he really was! They build them up...just to take them down!

MJ was never a fool. Trust and believe that. Problem was he trusted FOOLS around him. He was disliked for speaking out and hated because the FOOLS around him were jealous and greedy and wanted what he had.

What goes around comes around. These FOOLS will pay in some form or another......dearly.
