Firefighters sped to the 28-storey London Hilton in Park Lane after flames erupted in a basement kitchen.
The fire spread to the second floor as smoke billowed up the side of the £700-a-night hotel.
US rapper Will.i.am, 36 - mentor and manager of CHERYL COLE - was staying at the 450-room hotel ahead of a gig with bandmates at the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park last night.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said 40 firefighters with eight engines brought the blaze under control.
Everyone was safely evacuated and no one was injured.
The spokesman said: "We believe the fire spread to the second floor through ducting and piping."
An investigation was launched last night.
