Serena Williams reality show about nail care was not picked up by Oxygen because the powers that be felt Serena was being inauthentic. Oprah's OWN passed on it as well.
Serena Williams isn't coming to a small screen near you. We hear the tennis star has whiffed on her attempt to interest the Lifetime cable network in a reality series based on her second obsession: caring for and decorating nails. A source tells us the pilot featured "a salon set-up" and footage of Williams giving Oprah Winfrey a pedicure (possibly taken from the time Williams pampered Winfrey's tootsies on her old syndicated show). Alas, our source says Lifetime programmers "felt the audience wouldn't think Serena was being authentic," even though Williams has studied professional nail care. Given Oprah's pedi participation—insert cringe here — we asked Winfrey's OWN channel if there was interest there. A spokeswoman replied: "OWN has no plans for a reality series with Serena Williams." Williams rep did not respond to our requests for comment.Jacked from NY Daily News

They wanted drama and she knew her endorsements are too big too lose.
Serena is MY kind of Woman.
What they meant was audiences have grown to expect loud mouth skanky black women so a media coach black woman who has a reputation to uphold isn't good for business.
^^co-sign!
There has to be drama. Who would want to watch anyone doing nails without gossip, arguing, and/or fighting. Plus there is already a show about a nail salon.
Not surprised OWN passed, ain't no black folk allowed on that channel!
Her idea was BOOOOOOORING anyway. She should see this as a win though, I would rather not have to coon out on TV to get a show anyway.
Co-sign , her idea sounds boring , why would she think a show around that would sell
OWn..Oprah without Niggas..lol
We lost Oprah a long time ago. This isn't a shock. I'm surprised she did Serinas show but then Serina is on that special negro level that Oprah pays attention to. Like Jamie Foxx not being on her show until he won an Oscar. Oprah not trying to have Monique on her show until she won an Oscar. The only black people Oprah pays attention to are those who have crossed over.
