To Catch a Predator Suspect Acquitted

Out of the 29 arrests made during the "To Catch a Predator" reality show 28 suspects plead guilty without going to trial. The one man who refused to take the plea was just acquitted.
A sailor caught in the web of Dateline's "To Catch a Predator" was just acquitted of all charges, after the judge ruled NBC engaged in entrapment.

Joseph Roisman was prosecuted for lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor, after allegedly arranging a meeting with someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl.

Judge Arthur Wick in Sonoma County, California, threw the case out after the prosecution presented its case, ruling prosecutors failed to prove Roisman had an intent to have sex with the decoy.

Roisman's lawyer, L. Stephen Turer, lashed out at the tactics of the people responsible for "To Catch a Predator," saying "They took everything away from this kid just to make a TV show."

Turer added, "This case is the poster child for the abuse in this program."

There were 29 arrests as a result of the Dateline sting. 28 of the defendants pled guilty without going to trial. This is the only case of the 29 that went to trial, and Dateline's tactics were squarely repudiated.

NBC could not be reached for comment.

That judge must be biased. everybody who wastches the show knows that they have transcripts of the chats going back and forth between the decoys and the perps. I m sure decoy told him they were 13 and he still wanted to have sex!

If you have seen the show yes some do say they want sex other dont. The show does everything to trap someone even if they never inteded to have sex with a minor. I bet had more cases gone trail they would have been found innocent as well.

Yea alot of times the decoys went all out to entice the man to come into the house. But the kicker is the chat logs in most cases clearly spell out the intent of the perp, the age of the "victim", along with the nude pictures of himself that are transmitted over the internet which is a felony. Too bad Dateline can't bring the show back, it really put a spotlight on the problem of child sex predators. Believe it or not, a lot of viewers complained about the show...

So another predator is free. They should arrest everyone they catch on that show, what business do they have with children.
