RCA has folded Jive, J and Arista Records.
RCA executives have confirmed that the company will cease to release records on its Arista, Jive, and J labels, according to The Hollywood Reporter. RCA CEO Peter Edge and President/COO Tom Corson told THR that the artists that remain on those three labels will now release music on RCA.Jacked from Pitchfork Media
Founded by Clive Davis in 1974, Arista's catalog included records from Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, and Lou Reed in the late 70s, and later Prince, TLC, Outkast, Run-DMC, the Notorious B.I.G., Gil Scott-Heron, Spiritualized and more, not to mention Aretha Franklin.
Jive, founded in 1977, was home to hip-hop artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Clipse, and KRS-One, R&B artists like Aaliyah and R. Kelly, and teen pop stars like 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears. J, founded by Davis in 2000, released albums by D'Angelo, Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart, and more.
