Former child star Kristy McNichol comes out as a lesbian.

It may have taken her several decades but the star – who has lived with her girlfriend, Martie Allen, for over 20 years - says she has come out in hope it may stop some children from being the victim of homophobic bullying.
The former actress – who appeared in shows such as Family and Empty Nest, the former which saw her win an Emmy Award for her role as Buddy Lawrence – says that she has chosen to talk about her sexuality now because she is ‘approaching 50’ and wants to ‘be open about who I am.’

I knew she was a lesbian in the 70s, I watched that show Family every week.

This is so old!!! Kristy came out long time ago. Evidently she needs some cash, since she's telling her story to the media.

Wonder if she's still working at Sears? If her objective is to stop the bullying, more power to her.
