Heartbroken Katy has been confiding in pal Rihanna, 23, since Russell filed for divorce after just 14 months of marriage.
The two singers have cleared their ¬schedules to go away this month.
A source said: “Rihanna has been there for Katy, texting her from Miami where she’s on holiday.
Now they are planning a girlie getaway so Katy can clear her head.”
Russell, 36, is said to have split from Katy over claims she did not want to have children. The source continued: “Katy is absolutely devastated, but the rows over starting a family had just come to a head. Yes she had agreed to take a year out to focus on children, but she realised the timing was all wrong.
“She is too young and does not want to put her music on the back burner while she is on top of her game.”
