The NBA sports star parted ways with the Dallas Mavericks over the weekend.
Lamar is married to reality star Khloé and the pair have their own TV show.
Sources say the constant scrutiny into Lamar's personal life proved to be an obstacle when playing professional sport.
“When he wasn’t playing well, it meant he looked bad,” an insider told the New York Post.
“And when you have a show about your life, when you are off-court, you have to deal with the producers asking all those questions. He had a horrible summer, but… he was more concerned about the cameras and how he looked.”
Sources also revealed that bosses at the Mavericks were beginning to get fed up with his negative behavior.
"They grew tired of his BS and kicked him to the curb,” a source revealed. “[The team] didn’t need someone pouting like a little kid.”
Lamar insisted in a statement that leaving the team was a mutual decision. The 32-year-old star wished his former team the best of luck moving forward.
"I'm sorry that things didn't work out better for both of us," he told ESPN.com. "But I wish the Mavs' organisation, my teammates and Dallas fans nothing but continued success in the defence of their championship."

wow I hope he and Khloe will make it through this. I think she will go to take care of him mode, but he will be stressed and flash on her and then things will just go downhill from there and they will call it quits. Too sad because they seem to be really in love and happy.
