It's not that unusual. A lot of guys do this after feeling tricked by a woman. They realize the child is their responsibility but since they didn't have an emotional investment in the mother or their birth they don't want to have a relationship with the child. Jonathan needs to realize that making this public won't raise his chances. Tom might be a piece of shit but Jon should be glad that he was financially taken care of because a lot of kids were abandoned and didn't get shit.

That's sad. How did we get this way that we willingly abandon our children. Sex is for procreation and if a child comes from that act it is both parents jobs to care for the child in all ways and not just financially.

No matter how anyone looks at this situation, we will never know the whole story. It is not ours' to know. Believe it or not, some men do have a reason to never look back. Think about it. If you follow the Bible, remember God told Abraham to separate himself from Hagar (the mom) and his outside child (Ishmael) because it caused confusion betweem him and his wife, and the two women, and the two boys the women had. Jones' situation is comparable to that. To keep peace in the home, Hagar and the boy were sent to a desolate place. God told Abraham not to worry about the boy, Ishmael, because He would provide for him.
Considering Tom Jones' reputation, who is to say how many other children he had? If I had a child by a married man, especially a celebrity, I would be too ashamed to publicize. If Jones had provided support without court intervention, maybe the woman would have kept her peace.
Many women had no respect for Jones' wife, his son with his wife, or his marriage. The wife was severely hurt; besides, no woman had a right to saddle him. She caused her son's pain, too, when she decided to bed someone's husband. She was not a child. His son with his wife was probably hurt, too. Sometimes a man is forced to choose between his wife's wishes and an outside child's. The consequences of sin messes us up, and we cannot always choose both. Yes, Jones did wrong, but he was between a rock and a hard place and could not turn back the hands of time. His marriage might have been in jeopardy. We do not know what Mrs. Jones demanded of him. His wife's demands came first! He loved he, and he wanted his marriage. OK, he sinned, so did we.
Women are not always the innocent party. Who is to say that Jones did not use protection. Who was there. If he had not had a child with that woman, the act still would have been wrong.
Some would be surprised to know the ways a woman could cause a condom, or other birth control, to fail. Just think! Getting pregnant by a millionaire could mean big, regular bucks if the lawyer is super. Many men have indeed been trapped because of their inability to control the thoughts of a certain body member.
Yes, the man shares the blame, BUT that man's home family comes first. The fact that he paid child support is better than most absent fathers have done. Many others do not look back or pay support.
When we adore celebrities, we are not peering into their real characters, we see their stage characters. They are entertainers, not our associates. We never know them. We cannot judge them. They are strangers.

If Prince Albert can acknowledge and have a relationship with his 3 love children then Tom Jones could at least see his love child once in his lifetime. It was not the child's fault how he was concieved. No one wins in this situation and the love child suffers the most. If Tom Jones really thought anything of his wife of 55 years and really loved her he would have honored his marriage vows. I think Tom's treatment of his grown young son is dispicable. I bet that he will show up to collect his inheritence when old Tom passes on and he deserves a share. Tom only did his duty and supported his son after he was ordered to do so by the court. He didn't voluntarily do it even though he should no matter what his feelings were in regards to being tricked by the woman. She was only one woman in a long line of them. He probably has numerous love children. How could one man fack 25 women a year for 30+ years and not father multiple children. It is a miracle he isn't already dead of HIV. Tom Jones is a selfish man who isn't capable of loving anyone but his self. He has no love to give Jon. He was actually the whore not Ms Berkery. He was twice her age and experienced at using his women fans. Two wrongs don't make a right. It is definitely wrong to ignore your own son regardless of the circumstances of the conception. I have known men who found about about adult love children and they were only too happy to ACCEPT a new family member. One daughter was even in the wedding party of daughter by the wife. It is difficult to build a relationship with a child you have never known. The difference here is TJ knew about his child from having to be sued for paternity to get him to do the right thing and support his child. Tom Jones is also cutting himself off from the future grandchildren. Most grandparents would do anything for a relationship with the grandchildren.
