Gossip blogger Perez Hilton is being sued for half a million dollars for libel.
Robert Procop, who designed Angelina Jolie’s engagement ring, is suing gossip blogger Perez Hilton for half a million dollars, according to court documents obtained exclusively by RumorFix.
Perez published an article on April 17, 2012 on his sister site “CoCo Perez” with the headline “Angelina Jolie’s Engagement Ring Designer Guilty of Fraud.”
The article was re-purposed from RadarOnline, but Radar has since removed it. As of Wednesday, Perez still had the article up.
The story alleges Procop was sued for fraud two decades ago and the court awarded an $89,000 judgement against Procop. Procop’s attorney claims the accusations are false and libelous.
And, Procop’s attorneys say Perez, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, should be held libel for every website that republished the story.
Procop is seeking $500,000 in damages plus punitive damages. RumorFix hasn’t received a comment from Perez’s publicist yet.Jacked from Rumor Fix
