Mariah Carey went to great lengths to make sure there were no camera close ups of her face at Russell Simmons Art for Life Gala.
Mariah Carey was not ready for her close-up at Russell Simmons’ Art for Life benefit at his East Hampton home Saturday. The pop diva demanded the big screens be switched off when she appeared onstage. Carey, who recently signed on as a judge for “American Idol” for a reported $18 million, “wanted to avoid close-ups of her face,” says a source, adding that the screens were switched off during her appearance, then turned back on when she left the stage. Reps for the event insisted, “Mariah looked stunning.” Soledad O’Brien, Star Jon es and Grant Hill attended the event that raised $2 million.
