Troubled country singer Mindy McCready is suspected of being involved with her boyfriend's death.
When I saw the Today Show interview with country star Mindy McCready on Tuesday, I was shocked Andrea Canning would ask a grieving girlfriend if she killed her boyfriend.
But then I looked at the facts.
Mindy has a checkered past — she’s an admitted addict, she’s served jail time and she even went on the run with her son in the middle of a custody battle.
But does that make her a murderer?
Of course not.
The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department even says she’s not a suspect.
But this is where the inconsistencies come in.
When David Wilson died on January 13, it was Mindy’s publicist who told us that David died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
When I called the sheriff’s department on Tuesday, they said they haven’t finished their investigation so they have never said the gunshot wound was “self inflicted.”
When Mindy was asked by the Today Show if she thought he killed himself, she said, “I don’t know.”
When she was asked if he was murdered, she said, “I don’t know.”
Wouldn’t she have some idea? After all she was the one who found his body on their front porch in Arkansas. She said she was screaming, dialing 911 and, “I laid down next to him. I just pleaded with him not to die.”
And what about these lingering questions:
• When officers came to the house, the bullet was missing. She said it was found a day later — her dog had it in his mouth.
• There are rumors that David was having an affair. She admitted they had an argument that night about personal issues but said, “David was not having an affair with another woman — that’s absolutely not true.”
• And now E! is reporting that David was due an inheritance on his 35th birthday, which was two days before he died.
The sheriff’s department says they haven’t ruled out murder — they are waiting for forensic testing. Mindy claims the sheriff is “on a witch hunt.”
So now it does make sense that Andrea would ask if she killed her boyfriend.
By the way her answer was: “Oh my God no. He was my life. We were each others’ life.”
