Jennifer Hudson was caught off guard when she was asked about Nicki Minaj's skills as a judge on American Idol.
When it comes to the new judges on American Idol, the show's most famous daughter, Jennifer Hudson, isn’t going overboard with praise.
'It’s taken a bit to get used to the new judges. I come from American Idol, so I’m used to seeing Simon, Paula and Randy,' she explained about the latest season during an interview on Live with Kelly & Michael on Friday morning.
'So now it’s new faces, and to me, [Cowell, Abdul and Jackson] represented the show. It’s kind of awkward for me to see it with new judges.'
But she did have some kind words for diva of divas, Mariah Carey.
'Well, I’m happy that [Mariah Carey]‘s there because she’s a singer, so she knows what to expect, how to judge, even the position that the kids are in when they’re auditioning,' she said.
But when asked about Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj - both successful artists, both singers - she could only respond with a vague, 'Ummmm, yes.'
She was on the show to discuss her guest starring role as Veronica Moore, a Tony Award winning star on the new season of Smash.Jacked from Daily Mail

I am still not sure why and how they let NM judge the show. I get that she has a million songs out. But I feel like you should have years of experience and killer vocals LIKE MC in order to judge a show and pick furture talent. Can't wait til it's over.

None of the original Judges were singer either but they judge the contestants. I don't personly think Mariah Carey is really in a position to be a judge, I really don't think she can sing. Remember the things she went through where she felt like no one appreciate her singing. Sure Nicki is not a singer but maybe she has that ear for real talent. Paula, Randy and Simon did.
Jennifer Hudson is the best singer in the game, yet she gets less fame, promotion and publicity than Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Rihanna. Gee I wonder why?

--because she is boring and lacks that pizzazz that draws people to stars. She can sing, but in order to reach the heights, one must possess that oomph. She doesn't.
You people are a trip. Mariah can't sing? Are you kidding me? Her attitude has NOTHING to do with her ability to sing. And while Jennifer has a stronger voice than Beyonce, Alicia and Rihanna- there is more to a performer than that, and certainly to hold an audience for a concert. There is room in the game for EVERYONE. Period.

After they get rid of Nicki, they'll probably hire Willow Smith to take her place.

Jennifer Hudson and Alesha Keys don't sing they yell....hud is not special...at.all....we are just so desperate for new talent...anyone that can carry a tune,we say can sing....Beyonce can sing...imo...but that is my opinion...
