Jennifer Lawrence Voted for Lupita Nyong'o to Win the Oscar

Jennifer Lawrence voted for rival Lupita Nyong'o instead of herself to win the 2014 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Lupita Nyong’o impressed Jennifer Lawrence so much with her performance in “12 Years a Slave,” that Jennifer voted for the actress and not herself at the 2014 Academy Awards.
The 23-year-old chatted with Marie Claire in their June 2014 issue about picking Lupita over herself and slew of other topics (including boyfriend Nicolas Hoult). Here’s what Jennifer shared with the mag:
On being Team Lupita at the Oscars:
“I was very happy I voted for Lupita. It’s beautiful when you watch something good happen to somebody when it’s well deserved.”
On keeping her relationship with Nicholas Hoult in check:
“When we’re busy, we agree to mutually ignore each other. Not completely, but neither of us gets mad when the other doesn’t text back or call. Life’s super-busy. Obviously you know what they’re doing, and you trust them. We’re so young that it would almost be like if we lived in the same city, what would happen? We’d be living together. At least this way he’s in the same boat as I am: We can go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other.”
