The Real Reason Heidi Klum and Her Bodyguard Broke Up

Sources claim the real reason Heidi Klum and her bodyguard Martin Kirsten broke up is because Heidi put work and money over her family.

When Heidi Klum and her bodyguard boyfriend of 18 months, Martin Kirsten, suddenly split in January, fans scratched their heads. “They still have a great friendship,” a source close to the former couple told People at the time.

But a friend of South African native Kirsten, 41, tells RadarOnline.com a different story.

“Martin ended the relationship because he was sick of being a house-husband,” the friend explains, adding that while the model mogul, 40, worked out of town on her various projects, Kirsten served as the primary caretaker of Klum’s four children with ex-husband Seal— Leni, 10, Henri, 8, Johan, 7, andLou, 4— six days a week. “He went from having a successful security career to playing Mr. Mom. He did everything for the children, from dropping them off at school to putting them to bed at night. He loved the kids, but it was a lot to take on.”

When Kirsten called off the relationship, the America’s Got Talent judge and Germany’s Next Top Model host, “started crying,” the friend adds. “Martin thought she looked so beautiful when she cried. He thought Heidi was a lovely person, but she just wasn’t around. She put work and earning money ahead of him and the kids. He had to do what was best for him and end the personal and professional relationship.”

Now Kirsten, “is heartbroken,” says the friend. “He talks about her all the time. But he knows he did the right thing.”
