Pop star Mel B's estranged mother desperately tries to contact her daughter over social media.
The estranged mother of new X Factor judge Mel B has reached out to heal the bitter rift that has torn her family apart.
Andrea Brown hasn’t spoken to the former Spice Girl for six years after disapproving of her daughter’s husband, film producer Stephen Belafonte.
The Mirror told last week how Mel became estranged from Andrea, her dad Martin and sister Danielle in 2008 when she and Stephen renewed their wedding vows.
Her family blame Stephen, who has a history of domestic abuse, for taking Mel away from them. The infighting meant that Mel, 39, didn’t attend the funeral of her gran last March.
Andrea, 58, hasn’t seen two of her grandchildren for years and has never even met Mel’s youngest child, Madison, two.
But now she has started to reach out to her daughter on Twitter. Property developer Andrea, from Leeds, has a touching picture of Mel and Danielle, taken in 2000, as her profile picture.
And on May 29 she marked Mel’s birthday with the words: “After 16hrs 59min labour a special little girl arrived still special to me 39yrs on happy birthday Melanie Luv mum X”
A family friend revealed: “Andrea is scarred by what has happened with Mel. They used to be so close. “She is desperate to be part of her life again and in the last few days and weeks she has been trying to reach her on Twitter.
“So far Mel hasn’t replied but Andrea is hoping that now she is in the UK then she might relent and finally let her back in her life.”Jacked from Mirror
