Mel C Thinks Rihanna Takes Girl Power Too Far

Former Spice Girl Mel C thinks Rihanna and her pop peers take the 'Girl Power' message too far.

Raunchy Rihanna videos too much for Mel C's daughter: 'Girl power has gone too far'
The former Spice Girl Mel and bandmates Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell coined the phrase “girl power” as a term of empowerment.
Former Spice Girl Mel C has revealed her five-year-old daughter is a huge Rihanna fan – but she won’t let her watch her raunchy videos.
Mel, now 40, thinks the R‘n’B superstar flashes too much flesh in the clips and she wants to protect Scarlet’s innocence.
The singer, who was Sporty Spice in the 1990s girl band, said: “My girl Scarlet is a big fan of Rihanna, but I won’t let her watch the videos – they’re too sexual.
“I protect my daughter from it while I can, but she’s growing up fast.”
The Spice Girls burst onto the pop scene in 1996 and became known for their skimpy outifts and raunchy dancing. Mel and bandmates Melanie Brown, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell coined the phrase “girl power” as a feminist term of empowerment.
But Sporty Spice Mel believes that the likes of Rihanna, who often sings about sex and gyrates partly naked in front of the camera, objectify women instead.
Speaking at a preview of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Evita in Central London on Monday, she blasted: “For me it’s almost like what we did with girl power has gone too far the other way, which defeats the object.
“I appreciate that it’s a different generation now, but I don’t consider that empowering.” It is not the first time Mel has hit out at modern female pop performers such as Rihanna and Miley Cyrus – who is famous for her outrageous “twerk” dance.
Liverpudlian Mel has said: “It’s a long time ago since the Spice Girls were first together and we were criticised for being sexual.
“Yes, we wore crop tops, I mean look how much has changed.
"We always sat down as a group, be it in photoshoots, videos, interviews, and if somebody felt something was inappropriate for our young fans, we did something about it.
“I think that’s something young people in the music industry today, like Rihanna, should do now.” It comes after bandmate Brown, Scary Spice, revealed she restricted her 15-year-old daughter Phoenix Chi’s internet use to stop her getting old before her time.
The fiesty X Factor judge said: “You can’t be too careful or too protective, you have to be.
“Kids are doing wilder stuff younger these days because everything’s much more accessible. “They know more than us and if they don’t know it, they can just Google it and download a YouTube video on how to do it.”

Mel makes a very good point. These artist today are selling little girls in to hoe-ism and prostitution. The agenda is to have our daughters dumbed down on their knees sucking DICK!. This feminist shit that these women are on is actually the exact opposite of being a feminist. These women objectify themselves and call it feminism to dodge the hoe bullet. But they still hoes.

I think it's hilarious that Mel C thinks women like Rihanna, Myly Cirus or Katy Perry have complete control over their image/careers. She has a point but these new chicks are contractually obligated to sell an image. And that image is ho shit.

@10:39 am - yeah, some of this so-called 'feminists' are just dysfunctional broads with daddy issues and who became sexually promiscuous at an early age to make up for their average-to-below-average looks, and use the whole 'sexual empowerment' schtick as an excuse to slut it up, and look down on any woman who chooses to not parade around naked and/or sleep around in the name of 'liberation'.

LMAO. Y'all don't even know who you're insulting. Don't get mad because she's exercising good parenting skills. Rihanna's a drugged out whore who uses her music as an excuse for pushing trash. For the person who attacks this woman for being proactive in the rearing of her daughter, you're a retard who spent too much time on her back under the bleachers.
