Fashion Dolce and Gabbana designers say they used the wrong words to describe in vitro fertilization.
Italian fashion designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce are trying to distance themselves from the controversial comments Dolce made about in vitro fertilization and gay marriage.
“Maybe we chose the wrong words,” Gabbana told CNN on Wednesday in reference to a quote from an Italian magazine in which Dolce referred to children conceived artificially as “synthetic.”
When asked point blank if they support in vitro, Gabbana said, “I believe in in vitro. I don’t have anything [to say] about this.”
“I think we don’t need to support or don’t support,” Dolce said. “You think what you think.”
The pair previously told Italian magazine Panorama that children should be “born to a mother and a father,” and referred to babies born through in vitro fertilization as “synthetic children.”
Elton John called for a boycott of the brand over their remarks, but the two fashion icons say they hold no grudge against the singer.
“I don’t boycott Elton John. I love him,” Dolce said, while Gabbana voiced support for the gay community.
“We love gay couple[s],” Gabbana said. “We love gay adoption. We love everything. It’s just an expression of my private point of view.”Jacked from The Wrap
