Actress Rose McGowan puts Adam Sandler on blast for his sexist casting call instructions.
Adam Sandler has made an entire career out of playing slackers in sweatpants. He's found his niche, and he's been living comfortably in it for decades. Sandler's films also tend to fall into the time-honored Hollywood trope where the lazy, can't-be-bothered dude is paired up with a supremely attractive, buxom woman. She's usually the caring type who wants to act as both wife and mother to whatever chlidlike character Sandler happens to be playing in that particular film. She finds his loose clothing and Peter Pan syndrome endearing.
At this point, no one does anything to hide the formula — especially not people on the inside, writing casting notes to actresses reading for the role of Sandler's love interests. Well, some people are finally getting fed up with the double standard that allows a male actor to dress in his XXL sweatpants, while his female costar parades around in next to nothing.
Actress Rose McGowan recently decided to put a "male star [whose name] rhymes with Madam Panhandler" on blast on Twitter along with a particularly one-note clothing suggestion for an audition.
