Although it's been widely reported that musician Pete Escovedo is in fact her biological father, the starlet has been raised by Lionel Richie since she was just 3-years-old. The superstar singer and his first wife Brenda Harvey legally adopted Nicole when she was nine.
Escovedo's wife told RadarOnline.com on Tuesday: "My husband is out of town, and will not be back until Monday." The couple are based in Los Angeles and Nicole's wedding is expected to occur this weekend at Lionel's home in Beverly Hills.
Born Nicole Camille Escovedo on September 21, 1981, the reality star has never publicly acknowledged that Lionel Richie's former band member is really her father.
In fact, Richie denied that Escovedo was her father in a November 2005 issue of Jane magazine.
"The nature of their relationship is a private matter and will remain so," Escovedo's wife said.
Pete Escovedo's sister is well-known muscian Sheila E, but the identity of Nicole's biological mother is not known. There has been speculation that she was a former assistant of Lionel Richie.

She was a complete mess when she followed around Paris Hilton, but changed completely after having kids. I commend her on changing her life and wish her and Joel the best.

I was on a website about a year ago and there was a list of celebrity tidbits known and unknown.. her being shelia E's niece was one of them... glad she's doing the damn thing.. you go girl.. being adopted and having her own family probably opened her eyes.. I can just imagine her thinking when she was told she was pregnant.. she knew she wanted her flesh and blood with her.. I ain't mad.. you go nicole..
Just because someone shares your DNA does not make them a parent.If she does not identify with that man it should not be an issue.. You usually hear horror stories about adopted children but her's a success story.
I love Nicole and I'm so happy for her she got her life together and is happy. I also read she was Sheila E's(Prince's one time girlfriend) niece sometime back. I'm sure it will be a beautiful, classy wedding and I can't wait to see the pictures!! <3

Cosign 1:58. Lionel & Brenda adopted and raised her. Can't remember exactly when, but Oprah had a heart to heart with Necole and she did a total turnaround. Acting a fool on an international stage is not a good look for anyone, but for a woman of color its beyond detramental.
Monsta Mami said....How RUDE to keep saying he r father Lionel & Brenda Richie are her PARENTS it takes away from their family bonds to keep saying "father" her biological sperm donor OK Father NO. I am happy for her & her family. She has come along way. and should be proud of herself.

i think that when lionel denies that escovedo is her biological father he is trying to save embarrassment to the escovedo family.
