Willie Nelson charged with marijuana possession after being caught with 6oz of weed.
The American country music legend Willie Nelson has been charged with marijuana possession after 6 ounces of the drug were found on his tour bus in Texas, reports the UK's Daily Mail. US Border Patrol spokesman BILL BROOKS says that the vehicle was pulled into a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca at around 9am on Friday 26th November 2010.Jacked from Contact Music
An officer could 'smell pot' when he opened the door to the bus and a full search turned up marijuana. After the discovery, the Hudspeth County Sherriff was called and 77-year-old Nelson was arrested at the scene along with two other men. Sheriff Arvin West told the El Paso Times that the country singer confirmed the drugs were his, and that after posting a $2,500 bail he was released. It is not the first time that the singer has been caught possessing drugs. In January 2010, six of his band and crew were stopped and searched in North Carolina where moonshine and cannabis was allegedly found on the vehicle they were travelling in, however, they were only issued with citations. In 2006, authorities in Louisiana searched Nelson's bus and found a pound-and-a-half of marijuana and magic mushrooms.
It is expected that Nelson will continue his current tour, and is scheduled to perform in Abilene, Texas on 2nd December, Tulsa, Oklahoma on 3rd December, and Ft Smith, Arizona, on the 7th.
