Gaga Takes Oprah's Spot on the Forbes List

Oprah Winfrey lost out on the top spot of the Forbes List to pop star Lady Gaga.
As she bids adieu to her syndicated talk show, Oprah Winfrey can also kiss goodbye to her standing as the most powerful person in showbiz, according to the list-makers at Forbes magazine, who gave Lady Gaga the No. 1 spot on this year’s Celebrity 100.

The list, released Wednesday, takes into account income and influence, and the latter increasingly depends on mastery of social media, where Gaga trumps Winfrey, who's No. 2 on the Celebrity 100.

Gaga is tops because she earned $90 million in the past year, has amassed 32 million Facebook fans and 9.5 million Twitter followers. Winfrey, who has topped the list four times, including last year, earned $290 million.

Forbes breaks it down into five categories. Gaga ranks first in “social” and “web,” second in “press,” third in “TV/radio” and eighth in “money.” Winfrey was tops in money and TV/radio.

The youngest on this year’s list, 17-year-old Justin Bieber, is third after earning $53 million in the past 12 months. His status is enhanced by holding a YouTube record: 500 million views of his music video "Baby."

Rounding out the Top 10 are U2, Elton John, Tiger Woods, Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi,Simon Cowell and LeBron James.

Among the surprises is that Glenn Beck’s star has risen year-over-year to No. 30, even as he gives up his show on Fox News Channel amid attacks on his sponsors by left-leaning political activist groups.

Beck noted the improvement on the Celebrity 100 on his radio show Wednesday and a sidekick joked that it happened even as “9 million” advertisers abandoned Beck.

Other notable rankings include Leonardo DiCaprio at No. 15, making him the biggest gainer (he was No. 71 last year), courtesy of Shutter Island and Inception.

Donald Trump also improved his standing, cracking the Top 20, in fact, as he rode a wave of publicity by insisting President Barack Obama should show his long-form birth certificate, which he eventually did. Trump was 17th.

Falling off the list entirely were Britney Spears and Daniel Radcliffe.

The highest-ranking actor (in the traditional sense) is Angelina Jolie, who came in at No. 11, two steps ahead of Johnny Depp. The highest-ranked director was Steven Spielberg at No. 22, just ahead of Rush Limbaugh, the highest-ranked radio personality.

James Cameron was No. 27 and Charlie Sheen came in at No. 28 despite a public meltdown. Inexplicably, Sheen only ranked 76th in the press category.

After Winfrey, celebrities earning the most money in the past year were U2 ($195 million),Tyler Perry ($130 million), Bon Jovi ($125 million) and Jerry Bruckheimer ($113 million).

We all know that facebook and twitter does not means influence. Even with soulja boy's millions of fans he had no influence and only sold what?? 5K albums??!! They need to wait til that album drops oh wait its just a dollar on amazon right now.
