Beyonce is on course to achieve the second Number One album of her career, according to the Official Chart Update. Her new album 4 is currently well ahead of the pack and selling three times as fast as any other album, in the slipstream of her triumphant Glastonbury headlining performance on Sunday night.
The Glastonbury effect is certainly being felt this week. Besides helping Beyonce’s album, her single Best Thing I Never Had is also on course to enter at 6. In turn, Coldplay’s Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall bounces back up from 42 last week, to Number 7 in the Singles Chart Update.

The only one who will ever be on Michael Jackson's level is Michael Jackson. Beyonce doesn't even come close to having the world wide support MJ had. When he made his visit to Africa for the crowning, he was greeted by 100,000 fans and this was a non-performing appearance. He drew more spectators than Nelson Mandela and the Pope. Don't tell me Beyonce has had this kind of success. MJ's reign was atypical, but he lived it, and I don't see anyone coming near that legacy, especially Beyonce. Now when we come back to earth and compare her to people like Tina Turner or Mariah Carey, then we might be able to get away with some of the ridiculous claims about Beyonce being the best of this generation.
