But rather than suffer lukewarm water flowing over her head, the 23-year-old superstar stripped down to her smalls and indulged in a £3,600 champagne shower.
Determined to celebrate the last night of her sell-out Loud Tour in a truly, er, corking manner, Rihanna had 12 bottles of vintage, £300-a-pop Armand de Brignac bubbly flown over specially from France – and poured over her by flunkies.
Presumably Girls Aloud pals Cheryl Cole and Nicola Roberts, who joined RiRi backstage, did their best not to get too close to the sticky star.
My source tells me: “Rihanna has always wanted to do this – have a champagne bath or shower.
“She knows it was incredibly extravagant and saved it as a celebratory treat to mark the end of her tour – it’s not an everyday occurrence. The guys and girls who were doing the pouring in the bathroom of her private dressing room had a field day, it was only the gay boys who looked a little bored by the end.”
Earlier Rihanna had downed shots on stage at London’s O2 and told the crowd – which included Tinchy Stryder and, er, Chesney from Corrie – she had the “best experience of my life”.
At this point, Cheryl and Nicola were spotted dancing on their seats. And the pair continued the partying when they joined Umbrella singer Rihanna backstage later.
Her crew threw an end of tour surprise party, fuelled by bottles of Gold and Rosé Armand.
Fortunately these ended up being poured down throats, not over Rihanna’s head.
Shortly after the gig, Cheryl tweeted: “Congratulations on completing your tour @rihanna. Have an amazing Christmas, well deserved break and another amazing year! #illdrinktothat X”
Returning the girlie-crush love-in, RiRi replied: “U are a sweetheart! Really!!! Thank you.”
