Mel B's Mum and Sister Call Out X-Factor Lie

Mel B's mum and sister call out the former pop star for lying about rough upbringing on X Factor.

The family of X Factor judge Mel B have hit out at the star who they claim has Spiced Up Her Life as a youngster.
Last week the former pop star told viewers on the hit ITV show that she was raised in Harehills, a tough area of Leeds, just like contestant Kayleigh Manners.
Mel, 39, said: “I grew up in Harehills.”
Before Kayleigh added: “The place where I come from gets quite a bad name. But Mel B was brought up in the same area so it makes you realise people from that place can still make it and get somewhere.”
But yesterday, Scary Spice’s mother Andrea accused the star of fibbing and revealed she actually grew up in a nice semi-detached house on the other side of town.
The 58-year-old said: “Melanie was brought up in Harehills? Well, that’s news to us. It’s always been Kirkstall, the other side of town.”
Then her sister Danielle, 33, waded in adding: “That’s what happens when you forget your roots. I might start saying I grew up in Buckingham Palace.”
Mother-of-three Mel previously took part in a documentary, 7 Days On The Breadline, where she lived with a family on a council estate in Harehills. But back then, in 2009, she admitted that she grew up in a different part of Leeds.
She said: “I knew a little about what to expect in Harehills because it’s always had a tough reputation. “Despite the fact I was born in Leeds and grew up on another council estate in the city, I was shocked at the level of deprivation and the absence of hope I found when I went back to Harehills for the first time in about 20 years.”

There's nothing exciting about growing up middle class, so why not make up a heartfelt story about growing up in a poor/rough neighborhood.
