Jurors in Los Angeles decide best-selling single copied legend's track
WRITERS of Blurred Lines - one of the best-selling singles of all time - copied a Marvin Gaye track, a jury decided as it awarded almost £5m damages to his family.
Jurors in Los Angeles decided that the 2013 single by Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke breached the copyright of Gaye's 1977 hit Got To Give It Up.
The family of the late soul singer has been awarded $7.3m (£4.8m) in damages.
Thicke and Williams denied copying the hit, and their lawyer said the ruling set a "horrible precedent". Gaye died in April 1984, leaving his children the copyright to his music.
His children - Nona, Frankie and Marvin Gaye III - sued Thicke and Williams in 2013. Nona wept as the verdict was read in court.

That will teach Pharrell not to steal from one of the greatest artist of all time. Pharrell stealing form Marvin Gaye is like The Beach Boys stealing form Chuck Berry! One more thing, that drug using trust fund kid can't sing! He couldn't be Marvin Gaye on his best day! There is only one Marvin!

The Gaye family should have been awarded the full $20 million dollars. Anybody with two ears can tell that Pharrell plagiarized Marvin's song Got To Give It Up! I lost all respect for The Neptunes!

Pharrel can't even read music. He uses software to write all his songs and he knows damn well, he threw Marvin Gaye's beat in the mix and built that blurred lines crap around it. I never liked that song and ole pale face, is getting what he deserves. Glad Paula had the sense to leave his wanna-be ass. She looks happy as a clam. Thicke is just another icky azalea, and you can throw justin timberfake and the rest of the whiggers in there too. I wish black people would STOP supporting these cultural appropriators.

so do i, but unfortunately, some black folks are so enamored with whiteness, all it takes to win them over is a white person who fucks us, adopts our kids, and/or appropriates our music, culture, and/or aesthetic. they're so hopped up on the "inclusive, cultural rainbow" kool-aid, they don't notice or even care that they're being used.

I agree with you about Justin Timberfake 12:39. He's been using MJ and Prince since he went solo just as thicke has been riding MG coattails.
