Hollywood actress declares sexuality.
The news that witty TV star Sara Gilbert came out of the closet and revealed that she's gay was delivered by the actress herself on Wednesday in Hollywood.
During the Television Critics Association press conference for her new show, The Talk, the actress was asked if she thought it would be easy to be out on the women's talk show, according to Entertainment Weekly. "This is a whole new world for me," Sara said.
She later added, "I'm not an expert on this, or I don't analyze these things. I'm just sort of living my life. I plan to put my heart and soul into this show, and I plan to continue acting, and I don't think it will be a problem."
Gilbert expanded on being out. "I don't ever really think of things as out or in. I just think I am who I am, and when topics come up that are appropriate, I'll talk about them and share when it seems right."
Sara will be joining other Hollywood moms Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne and Marissa Jaret Winokur for the daily talk show.
"I've been acting my whole life, and I've never really discussed my personal life," revealed Gilbert, who starred as Darlene on the blue collar hit sitcom Roseanne as a teenager. "I'm going to be discussing my life more," she said, when explaining why her girlfriend Allison Adler was not mentioned in the CBS press release about the show's stars and their spouses. Gilbert and Adler have been together since 2002 and have two children. Allison gave birth to their son Levi, 5, and Sara gave birth to their daughter Sawyer, 2.
"I felt that the first place I wanted to do it wasn't in a CBS press release. It just seemed impersonal, and I felt like I'd rather come in person and talk to you about all that stuff here."

This is really nothing new; I read somewhere else where it stated that Sara and her 'partner' had 2 children; not to mention that she gave that vibe when she was on Roseanne. I wish her the best.

Ummmm didn't she already come out the closet awhile back? she was also pictured in some magazine article on gay celebrities. this is old news. I liked Sara Gilbert in "poison ivy"....good movie.
Why is this news...I also remember her mentioning her partner a few years back but cmon.....why is this news??? I knew she was gay when she was 12 years old on Rosanne.

I have to agree with y'all. This ain't no surprise. She was butch on Roseanne and she didn't need to make an announcement for most of the world to figure it out. Stevie Wonder could have outed her!
she already came.. laura metcalf!! when did she become a lesbian?? she had a baby in real life.. she was preggos on the show but she was actually pregnant.. she had a boy and the man who played her baby daddy on the show i believe is her baby daddy in real life.. i love both of them.. so if they are both Lesbian oh well.. i just hope theit attitudes don't change.. like rosie and ellen.. ellen is not the same person she was since she came out.. rosie is just a men and nasty Lesbian for no reason at all..

All the dads on family television shows are gay e.g. Brady Bunch Mike Family Matters Carl and now all the women on the sitcoms are too. Hollywood is full of gay and sexually confused people. Its like bad to be straight OMG I Can't Take It. I just wish people would be real and stop using sexuality as if its a race card.
It doesn't matter it is what it is I love all the actors and actresses from roseanne and that will never change.... (:
