Perhaps he has been taking tips on how to relaunch his career from his daughter Miley.
For Billy Ray Cyrus is starring in the video for a hip hop remix of Achy Breaky Heart which features a legion of semi nude twerking dancers.
The unedifying spectacle comes in the wake of the once respected country singer agreeing to a producer turned rapper's request to put his own stamp on the twee 1992 chart topper.
The comical video for Achy Breaky 2 sees the 52-year-old strum away on his electric guitar while surrounded by the a cadre of almost naked women, and he certainly seems to be enjoying himself throughout.
It kicks off in bizarre with Larry King telling viewers about an 'unidentified flying object seen transcending over Europe,' and the strangeness never lets up, as it out the aliens are in fact twerking obsessed pin-ups who beam Billy Ray aboard so they can hear his music.
It is a far cry from the video for the kitch classic original, in which he playing an accoustic guitar while performing the hit in front of an adoring audience.
The tune is the brainchild of producer Damon Elliott who has a ball hamming it up as his alter ego Buck 22 in the video.
Explaining how the collaboration came about, he said: 'I asked if he would mind if I could take a crack at remaking Achy Breaky Heart and he looked at me for a moment, and said "lots of people have tried already, but go for it."
'He didn't have a clue that I had already gone into the lab and cooked up a demo of what I thought would be a fun EDM/hip-hop styled version, which at the time only had a sample from the original of his voice.
